Honda Motor Co. plans to invest $33
million in expanding its operations in India, Reuters reported yesterday. The money will fund an increase in plant
production to 50,000 units a year, up from 30,000, increasing production of the City ZX and the Civic. The company
expects capacity to double by 2010.
Honda isn't the first automaker to up its investment in Asia's third-largest economy. BMW has set up shop in the country, while Citroen is seriously considering entering that market by the middle of 2006.
