Playboy's 2006 Cars of the Year
The January issue of Playboy features the monthly men's magazine's 2006 Cars of the Year, the grand prize winner of
which is the Porsche Cayman S. The new coupe from Porsche was chosen for being the answer to every man's dream… well,
at least one dream, which is a Porsche for a 911 fan on a budget. While the quoted price of $58,900 means you'll be
brown baggin' it for a little longer than you thought, the Cayman S is the closest thing Porsche has got to an economy
car at the moment.
The entire list of 2006 Cars of the Year was compiled by Playboy's driving team headed up by
Ken Gross, former Director of the Petersen Automotive
Museum in L.A. and automotive journalist extraordinaire. Keep livin' the life, Ken!

You'd think Playboy would have a category for best backseat legroom.

I can not see how anybody thinks the H3is the best suv. It is very under-powered. It is also the brother of the new colorado, which has been rated as the worst mid sized pickup. It still suprises me that people will spend a extra 20k to 30k for a different exterior.

The H3 is more of a second cousin once removed to the Colorado. Hummer engineers adapted and strengthened the frame extensively for use in the H3. It is easily one the most capable midsize SUV on the market. With the 4.02:1 t-case, the modest power is hardly an issue, and you will get better mileage on road. Inline engines also tend to be extremely durable. If you want to go fast buy any of the other vehicles on the list.

"most fun on wheels..." LOL, that one took me a second. My car-obsessed brain was like, "why qualify it? what's more fun than being in a car?" Then it hit me :)

Ok, so the MX-5 is the "most fun on wheels" and then the Solstice makes "best roadster value?" They both cost about the same!

Kinda funny that Playboy would name the Gayman the winner!

the list, being from playboy makes sense in playboy's own way. I guess exception is MX-5, they should have called it "most fun driving while looking gay" most fun on wheel on playboy's list should be conversion Dodge(Benz) tincan with a plasma TV, nice stereo, waterbed and a box of condoms and comes with one of the playmates...

Since when is an A3 a sportwagon???? In the rest of the world we call such cars "hatchbacks". Ugh.

RE the the comments of "blah"... The MX5 is a spectacularly fun car. If you really think its too "gay" then may I suggest that other than being a homophobe, you might have some issues with your masculinity. Perhaps a Hummer H3 would make you feel better?

Ken, Please read the paragraph in context. I'd never deny that Miata's are fun cars and only commented in light of list being from playboy. I just drove my friend's this afternoon despite the nasty road condition. 'Cause it is a fun car and I asked to drive it.
So, I suppose your mention my proposed homophobia makes you feel superior to my "harder to read than average" paragraph that may have mislead few people to belive that I was actively offending GLBT community? What makes you assume that I have even closest possibility of having masculity issues, or even that I am a male and not a female nor part of GLBT community? You've rebutted and appearantly taken offense to my post, assuming that I have offended some mistreated group to feel superior about my masculinity. Yet, you go about same way when you replied to my misread post. Yes, I get your intention about H3, yes, it is a bad pick in general but makes sense for playboy to list as a SUV of the year. You certainly don't read as good as you write. BTW, I'd like to really offend someone, it's be folks buying a miata with automatic.
