Chrysler limo in the works
The Detroit News reports that Chrysler will contract Accubuilt, Inc. to
manufacture stretched 300C sedans to compete with Ford Motor's aging Lincoln Town Car and GM's stretched Cadillac
DTS.
The stretched 300 will have its wheelbase extended 6 inches, and will be offered with touring and HEMI engine
packages. With the limo, Chrysler is broadening the applications of its RWD LX platform, currently underpinning the
300, Dodge Charger and Magnum, and the upcoming Dodge Challenger muscle car.
Preliminary descriptions of the 300 limo sound virtually identical to Accubuilt's prototype (shown above), which
debuted at the SEMA show in November.
Given the success of the standard 300C since its launch two years ago, we expect the 300 limo to be a huge hit (so to
speak).

I saw a 300 Limo going down the street in Galveston the other day and it was the worst limo conversion I think I've ever seen....perhaps it was the company that did it...hopefully Chrysler will do it right.

They need to add something to prevent the front seat floor mounts from being visible to rear seat passengers. It looks a little unsightly for a limo IMO. A touch of wood to break up the plastic wouldn't hurt either.

um 2suave stop bashing DC.. u've done so in every thing i've read with you in it. I think the car looks good but they need to use the 300C or at least i think so. Hopefully they will do it right like #1 said

I too have seen a couple very large stretch 300C limos (I'd guess 4-5 windows extra in length) tooling around Denver. I'm not a huge fan of the car, but actually the limos look pretty nice compared to the older stuff out there, inlcuding the abominable Hummer limos.

I saw one in Austin last week. It looked like a pretty good job. They'd at least done a front to rear re-paint on the machine.

The car is great to drive - the best Detroit built vehicle I've driven lately, but its FUGLY, and making a limo out of it just makes it Fuglier. Looks like a drive by shooting waiting to happen.

I remember seeing a 300c limo on the street in my neighborhood in Houston a few months ago. I'd have to agree; it was a big improvement on the H2 and F150 limos you see.

This is sweet! The exterior is quite classy with all the retro-Chrylser cues. It works well as a high end transporter, especially next to the Lincoln. The stretch DTS is a contemporary look in a class above both Lincoln/300 in crisp modern styling and elegance. This 300 stretch has it's own place, as a very rounded retro-classic. However, the interior is very low brow. Noting from the pictures above: The cheap nylon loop pile carpet, the pressed steel front seat runners with the bolt heads showing, the electrical power cord hanging below the seat, the shiny low cost plastic surrounding the tray and also the cheap plastic look to the heat/ac vented console. Perhaps cover some of these plastic pieces with stitched leather, or better, some carved wood laminates. Also, when you're in a limo, you see the backs of the front seats, and these are obviously vinyl, suffering the leather "surface" only seating of cheaper cars. The doors look nicely done, soft plastics and bling used here is nice. I wouldn't like the ride on the inside, but I would like to be seen from the outside. The Caddy is much more elegant on the inside than either the Lincoln or the 300. Thank you D/C for not putting chromed convertible "S" hinges on the rear roof panels...I'm sure it was tempting.

Wow, so many familiar parts in this exterior style. Unfortunately, it looks like a design by focus group effort, with parts picked from other marques' original styles. The grille and emblem could be off a Mazda, it doesn't read Toyota at all. The windshield hood line seem Buick LaCrosse. The front airdam and wheel placement look like a Pontiac Grand Prix. And the front is what works the best! The rear is a tragedy of using the bulbous Buick Regal GS bumper cover, the BMW bustle trunk, and the Ford Taurus SE's air spoiler. The lights are uniquely Toyota and simple accent to the otherwise mess. Opening the door is such a surprise, a beautifully finished economy interior. Without reaching for VW class, the interior is clean, proper, a little modern and tight styling, nice! The center console and doors are lovely. But, what's with the nylon carpeting shown on the console? It looks so short of pile it may feel like a cheap felt or cloth? Some plush is needed here.

Screw yourself, Aaron, I'll say what I want. And I don't always bash DC cars either. Drove a rented Dodge Charger a few months ago and it's a good car--mentioned that in an appropriate post at the time.
Also, I think the Caliber will likely be a winner when it appears next year.

Remember when Chrysler sold "Executive Sedan" versions of the New Yorker back in the mid-80s? It's the only time I can recall that you order a "limo" directly from the dealer.

I don't know about the "limo" part, but if the factory made a slightly larger version of the 300 for a couple grand more, I would have bought it. The 300 is a very nice sedan, but I keep finding I need a couple inches more rear seat or trunk room.
