Time Waster of the Day III - World's strongest sportscar?
This hilarious video clip from the British Top Gear TV show documents their attempts to destroy an ancient Porsche
911. Possibly fed up hearing Porsche fans idolize the old 911 - an idiosyncratic, treacherous beast compared to today's
Porsche - Top Gear decides to exact its revenge on a decades-old 911 beater. Watch it
here.

Not surprising to see Clarkson destroying a Porsche, he's not exactly their biggest fan.

Actually, that isn't from an episode of Top Gear. It is from one of Clarkson's yearly videos (which aren't Top Gear related).

What a waste... they should have just given it to me.

Actually, that video is a pretty good number of years old, IIRC. Since then, Clarkson has warmed a bit to Porsches. He was very impressed by the 997 Carrera S, and he absolutely loved the Carrera GT. He even praises the Boxster for its balanced handling and feel, even if it's not his favorite small sports cabrio.

I am a six-time Porsche owner (356, 911, 911, 964 C4, 904, 944 Turbo Cup), and I think it is VERY funny.
Many PCA'ers are humor-deprived, and will hate it! Which makes it even funnier to me.

I think the best one so far is the one with the Hilux.

You'd think after 60 years the Limeys and Huns could get along. OTH, the Germans now own Rolls Royce/Bentley while the Brits are left with Rover.
If I were Clarkson, I'd be pissed off too.

I have an old 911 and am a "PCA'er" and although I wouldn't say I hate it, I do sort of wonder what the point is. Also, if you pause the scene where they drop it from the crane you see that they've removed the engine from the car.

#7 Alex:
I just watched the Hilux demolition attempt (after reading your comment). We're not worthy! That was astonishing to use Jeremy's catchphrase.

The 911 "victim" is left hand drive. For what market was it built, do you suppose?

I hate Porsches and I still think this is the dumbest thing I've ever seen. What a waste.

#9, you've proved #6 right, in that some PCA'ers are humor-deprived.
The POINT is that it's FUNNY. If you weren't humor-deprived, you'd get it.

In other news: #12 has obviously never driven a porsche.

Get over yourself b00st, a late sixties-era 911T isn't far removed from it's VW DNA and is an atrocious excuse for a sports car even by the standards of the time. The 80's-era whale tales are aesthetic excrement. Hand it to them, though... they evolved the design perfectly. Just took them thirty years... then they introduced the Cayenne.
Nothing worse then idolotry, especially by people who probably prounounce is "porsh".

...and don't forget the Germans also own Mini - and us Yanks own Jaguar, Aston Martin and Land Rover. What do the British have left?
That thing with the Porsche was somewhat funny - but pointless really.

Is there a link to the Hilux video? I've always liked the Hilux, Favorite Truck of the Taliban.

In fact, they make a Taliban joke in the full version of the original piece (although it's not in this version-it was at the beginning before this version starts).
Apparently Toyota got a lot of press over in Britain, since the current top of the line version of the thing is called the "Invincible".
