Scuderia Toro Rosso announced Tuesday that Scott Speed and Vitantonio Liuzzi would be their drivers for the 2006 Formula 1 season.

The former Minardi team, now Red Bull's "junior" team, will have the first American driver in Formula 1 since Michael Andretti's unsuccessful 1993 season. Speed, Liuzzi and test driver Neel Jani are all graduates of Red Bull's extensive junior driver development program. Speed was an early discovery of Red Bull's U.S. "Driver Search" program, which was established specifically to find the next American F1 driver.
