Mitsubishi hybrid and Eclipse Spyder to bow in Detroit
Though nothing ever seems to go its way, Mitsubishi still isn't giving up. At the 2006 North American International
Auto Show in Detroit this January the beleaguered company will debut two new models – the Concept-CT MIEV hybrid sport
compact and the Eclipse Spyder. The incorporates technology we've previously
highlighted, including in-wheel electric motors that
drive all four wheels.
The second model is the Eclipse Spyder, an eagerly awaited addition to the Eclipse lineup that will be available with
either of the coupe's engines – a 2.4L four that produces 162 hp or a 3.8L V6 producing 263 hp.

I still think the new Eclipses are hideous cars...

Hm. Y'know how drawings always look better than the actual car in the sheetmetal? Well, if the drawing of the Eclipse Spyder has such a HUGE butt, I shudder to think what the production vehicle will look like.
(I like the looks of the coupe, btw)

I personally find this site is about nothing but copy and paste information from others with a little added sarcasm towards the underdogs. Professional journalism is totally absent from this site. Although Mitsubishi is not totally out of the wood yet, this beleaguered company just had three consecutive months of sale increase. In fact, November sale figure has 7% increases over same month last year when others, especially the big three, continue to slide. On top of the sale improvement in the US, the new Outlander just introduced in Japan late October recorded over 9000 units sale as of end of November. Did anyone from this site bother tried to get some figure right before the copy and paste and use the word beleaguered? It seems this site is a big time BMW SUCK UP and tends to through stones on others when they are down. For example, the facts you guys dwell on the new S-class crash footage, post it, and posted some more, reflects the juvenile mentality you process.

My God! Look at the size of the ass on that car! Jesus!
And, hey, Chuck Wong, when you lose your job at Mitsu, I hear Toyota's hiring.

Hey Chuck.
Yeah it's hard to shake off that bad image thing. Not so long ago that every time Mitsu was mentioned in the news (in Japan, anyway) it was "Scandal-plagued automaker" this and "Freefall" that.
The press loves a whipping boy because it makes it easy to sound like they know what they're talking about when in fact they're just recycling what other people wrote (former newspaperman talking here). Pretty soon you get a snowball effect and everybody has come to a decision and no one is sure why.
In Mitsu's case, they deserved the beating they got for lack of transparency in Japan and an aging lineup worldwide. Unfortunately journalists aren't known to be optimists -- which is fine -- but many also can't tell the difference between healthy skepticism and blanket negativity.
They don't want to see the light at the end of the tunnel for the guy they've already cast as the bad (or irrelevant) guy, right? Bad guy gets saved? That's a crappy story. They want predictable, told-you-so copy. It's easier for the stupid readers to understand. Right guys?
Mitsubishi isn't the bad guy. They're down, but not out. They need to get their sh-t together, and are doing so. One of these days, we'll start seeing "underdog" next to Mitsubishi, and then the press will have a story they can use.
