Mazda tells its employees to take a walk
For their health and the environment, that is. As part of its new, more aggressive environmentally-friendly
policies, Mazda is paying employees around fourteen dollars a month to walk to work or use public transportation
instead of using their vehicles. Called the "Eco-walk commutation allowance", the program is only being made available
to domestic employees (i.e., only in Japan) who meet certain criteria. There are currently no plans to apply the
program beyond Japan.
While we applaud creativity, we prefer Mazda's other green
polices.

I think it's a great idea. Gotta be good for health insurance costs too.

Does anyone else see this as philosophically counter-intuitive? A car company paying people not to drive cars.

Great idea and more employers should adopt a similar policy.
There are too many fat slobs who should narrow their wide asses.
Walking is among the best ways to exercise and helps take off the pounds.

#4 I cannot agree more. I think it is time that we pass laws to stop people from eating all these bad foods. We should do what the Japanesse are doing. They are so much better at these things than Americans. Maybe we should start to make the seats smaller instead of bigger in our theaters and our Autos. At least it is a start.
