Ford plant closings - at least eight?
Following on the heels of Friday's Wall Street Journal rumor, Automotive News reported Monday that
Ford Motor is planning to close more than eight North American assembly and parts plants as part of its "Way Forward"
restructuring plan for the Americas unit.
The latest rumor has Ford closing five assembly plants, adding Wixom, Michigan to the Journal's list of St. Louis,
Atlanta (pictured), St. Paul and Cuautitlan, Mexico. In addition, AN reports that several stamping and powertrain plant
will close.
Maybe I'm just a cynic, but you have to wonder if the rumors in advance of the official release of the "Way Forward"
report, promised for January, are real leaks, or just part of Ford's PR campaign…

Maybe you are a cynic or maybe Ford is slowly leaking some details in order to soften Wall Street's inevitable response: a decline in Ford's share price.
