Now that it has instituted the country's premier designer's conference, a designers challenge, and has the buy-in of the best designers in the country, the Los Angeles Auto Show has finally secured its rightful place on the auto show circuit. And manufacturers have noticed.
Car makers have big plans for L.A. this year, with World and/or North American launches from 30 manufacturers planned. Toyota will have the world premiere of its 2007 Yaris, Mazda will show its CX-7 concept and Volkswagen will introduce the Eos and GTI to the North American market. GM plans to launch 7 vehicles; 6 of them being world premieres and the other one a North American debut. Audi will show the Q7, Porsche the Cayman S and Bugatti will show off its Veyron for the first time to a North American audience.
