Showing alongside the new Fiat Panda Cross at the Bologna Motor Show is the special edition Panda Monster. Obviously
not named after its enormous dimensions or fearsome presence, the car is in fact named after Ducati's "Monster"
motorcycle.
Launched in the 1990's, Ducati's Monster is the original "naked"
motorcycle, and a genuine cult classic. To commemorate the famous bike's original 620cc displacement, the Panda Monster
will be built in a limited edition of 620 units, all in the black color scheme of the classic bike.
Fiat's Monster receives the complete black-out treatment - paint, mouldings, trim, roof rack, etc. Black leather
upholstery adorns the interior.
The Monster Panda 4x4 is powered by Fiat's 70 hp 1.3-liter turbodiesel, good for 0-100 kph in a pavement-ripping 18
seconds (somewhat slower than the bike).

Man, people just hand out these cool names like no tomorrow eh?? This just doesn't make sense, a Ferrari or even Alfa monster I could get.. this I don't.
Someone slap those marketeers!
Mark @ Dec 18th 2005 10:50PM
WTF? Naming this underpowered econobox after a Ducati Monster (even a Monster 620) is kind of like coming out with a Chevy Aveo "Corvette edition" or something.
Hey, I know, how about a Toyota Echo Hayabusa?
Can I find a farmer somewhere and name his mule "Fireblade"?
Dave @ Dec 18th 2005 10:50PM
Ugh... I hate it when co-branding goes wrong. As the proud owner of Ducati Monster, I demand the person responsible for this be shot!

Ok, earlier we had the post of the ugly white Fiat Hummer ripoff, and now I'm forced to read about a 70 HP "Monster"!? 70 HP! Good lord, doesn't John Deere make commercial grade lawnmowers with power than that? Someone needs to be fired over at the Fiat HQ. And people wonder why the auto industry is going under... when you waste your money and R&D on crap like this it'll happen.

In an episode of Top Gear (Series 6 I believe, which is last season) Jeremy Clarkson drove the Fiat Panda 4WD in a race against a marathon runner to see who could get to the center of London the quickest. Clarkson got caught in a traffic jam and the runner beat him! Still he said the Fiat Panda was a pretty good car, and he doesn't praise cars too often. Maybe "Monster" is pretty ridiculous for the Panda, but the vehicle itself is apparently a slow, but sensible city oriented crossover.

The original Monster displaced 900cc.

Looks like the Fiat Multipla multiplied...

under the wtf category...
Why isnt it a "naked" car? That woulda been cool.
Chris @ Dec 18th 2005 10:50PM
Nope...I dont see the connection . Does that mean there is a Ducati 996 'Panda 4x4'edition in the works?
