Sliding domestic sales, controversial employee-pricing programs, budget small-car offerings from Daewoo, the relentless onslaught of Toyota - no, this isn't another article about GM, but rather its Australian subsidiary, Holden.
Despite building a bunch of cool RWD cars that Americans drool over (at least until they're actually brought over
here - think Pontiac GTO), the company finds itself in deep trouble. The company's Commodore sedan represents 1 of
every 10 vehicles on the road in Australia, but the automaker recently found itself overtaken by Toyota. Holden's
leadership says it is focusing on profit over market share, however, stating that the company "[is] not going to chase
market leadership at any cost."
