Aston Martin readies for launch of DBRS9

Aston Martin's DBRS9 customer racecar has completed testing and deliveries are scheduled to begin in December. The new customer racecar will compete in the new FIA GT3 class, a couple of notches below the DBR9 GT1 cars that finished on the podium at Le Mans this year.

The new car carries over much of the DBR9's design and technology, in a less aggressive (and much less expensive) implementation. The 'S' model is almost 400 lbs heavier, and gives up about 50 hp to the GT1 car. However, with prices starting at around $300,000, the DBRS9 is less than half the price of its GT1 sibling.

On another Aston Martin high note, the Russian Age Racing DBR9 of Bouchut and Garcia won the final race of the FIA GT season Friday at the Dubai Autodrome.
