Here we go again… From Automobilewoche: "Volkswagen AG is developing a coupe-style Passat that the automaker hopes will attract Mercedes-Benz customers." First and foremost, let's hope VW learned its lesson with the Phaeton and won't try to market this vehicle in the United States if they're looking to get into it with the Mercedes CLS.
The four-door coupe doesn't have a name yet other than the internally-used "CC." Power plants start out at 140 hp diesel and 150 hp gasoline engines, but the range topping 280 hp is the closest thing to the CLS's 302 hp V-8. On the up side, company execs say that the vehicle will come in far below the CLS's price, but then again, I don't know that price is a factor for Mercedes-Benz customers.
