Mark LaNeve took some serious heat on the GM FastLane blog for his announcement of the Red Tag incentives program last week. Elsewhere on the web, observers were also somewhat less than supportive, as typified by autoextremist.com, who closed their comments with "And so the "Death Spiral" continues…"
Well, Magical Mark is back blogging today with a rather content-free defense of the Red Tag Event. One interesting nugget - LaNeve says that Red Tag supports GM's efforts "to close the gap between MSRPs and what you actually pay for a car or truck." This is hard? Price the product competitively and take the "S" out of "MSRP." Seems to work for every other form of retail sales.
