What is a fair comparison? If the Atom had doors? A windshield? Leather interior? And who really cares whether it's fair anyway!? The electric Atom beat the snot out of both vehicles, and if I had my choice of which to be driving while racing for pinks, I'd choose the 'lectric Atom, no question.
But beyond that the point of the demonstration is that electric vehicles can be performance vehicles, and changing that perception in people's minds that electric vehicles drive like golf carts means that it's easier to get people to purchase electric vehicles. I mean, it's nothing new or novel to show that, but it may be new to some.
Of course, I'd rather have an Atom that has more range than 5.2 miles of the electric one, and I'd rather have leather interior and a beefy 400hp behind me too. But what I'd rather have isn't really the point either (since I'll never have anything close to an Atom or 360) the point is that the Atom with a Civic engine is awesome, and an electric version makes for a pretty decent alternative fuel dragster, as long as you're not going more than 1/4 mile.
