After selling off its stake in Subaru to Toyota and its Australian I-GM commercial truck business to Isuzu, General Motors is adding some fat to the bone by buying increasing its stake in GM Daewoo from 48.6 percent to 50.1 percent, thus making the Korean automaker a GM subsidiary. GM purchased the additional stake in Daewoo from co-owner Suzuki. GM Daewoo produces the Chevy Aveo/Suzuki Swift+, Chevy Aveo and Chevy Epica/Suzuki Verono. It also set a monthly sales record in October for the second month in a row. The next Chevy Aveo to be sold in North America has already debuted overseas as the Gentra in South Korea and Aveo in China.
