Prius pricing for 2006 announced
Toyota announced the pricing of its 2006 Prius hybrid sedan today, the base MSRP of which will be $21,725. The
increase of $475 or 2.1 percent will go into effect when the model goes on sale in mid-November. For 2006 the Prius
receives restyled headlights and taillights and a new front lip spoiler. For the first time the hybrid will be offered
with leather seating and a leather-wrapped steering wheel, as well. A rear back-up camera has been added as an
available option, and the DVD GPS nav system can now be searched using voice recognition while the Prius is in motion.
The front airbags have also received occupant classification sensors and a tire pressure monitoring system is
standard.

I must admit, the price increase got me a little excited. Nothing made me more proud when Toyota issued a recall for the nearly 100,000 priuses on the road. That takes about 75% of the Kerry-Edwards bumper stickers off the road, thank god.

#2, the recall involved a software upgrade. Your hated K-E stickers were only off the road for a day. Just to show it goes both ways, I did see a Prius with a W04 sticker. Once.

And I saw a Volkswagon Jetta once that said "No Gay Marriage" but that doesn't mean anything for the majority of the others.

Every message I have seen from Cornucopia has been an idiotic right-wing troll, usually with absolutely nothing to do with the topic at hand.
Please stop it. You're giving us intelligent conservatives a bad name.

Wow what a stereotype "CORN"
Hows this?
I cant wait for MI to have emissions testing on their vehicles, It will eliminate all those rusted P.O.S pickup trucks those rebel flag waving rednecks drive, in turn eliminating a huge percentage of the Bush/Cheny bumperstickers.
As for the Toyota Prius, further improving on an already amazing car. Sweet!!!
Whats wrong with driving a clean energy efficient vehicle anyways?

There is one thing funnier than trolls and flame-bait.
The people who fall for them.

I like his post in one of the SEMA threads about how $1,000,000 rims are the fault of the liberal media.

It has come to my attention that my previous post was wrong.
I said that Cornucopia's right-wing trolls were idiotic. No, indeed, they are pathetic.
I also said that they usually have nothing to do with the topic at hand. The reality is that they never have anything to do with the topic at hand.

I like the new luxury features of the Prius but I think we are going to add a 2006 Civic Hybrid to our short list instead. I know it is not sticking to the subject but I had to respond to Cornucopias post .
"Please stop it. You're giving us intelligent conservatives a bad name." ?????????????????????
An intelligent conservative... now I have heard it all!!! I thought it couldn't get any deeper then when the term compassionate conservative started floating around.

I beg the question why AutoBlog allows comments at all.

I wish there was an equivalment of "Godwin's Law" regarding troll comments, because this thread, along with others at AutoBlog, was officially over after politics became involved.

Back on-topic, from a technical/geeky perspective, the Prius looks totally awesome (yes, I'm in Computer Science, how'dya guess?). That's the most controls I've ever seen jammed on a steering wheel hub though...

#6, MI is a northern state, not a southern, you would have to look very hard to find a rebel flag. granted there are a good amount of rusted out pickup trucks though....
also michigan has voted democratic the last few elections, so you cant really call us bush supporting rednecks.
p.s.
MI = Michigan
did you meen mississippi or something????

Here in Czech Rep. (EU) Prius prices start at $32.5k, tax included. The version with richer trim (named "Prius+") can be yours for $37.5k.

Because then they couldn't call it a blog if there were no comments. Further, if they took off comments, they couldn't call it AutoNews because real news is unbiased, and AutoBlog writers let their biases shine through. It could be called AutoOpEd, but that is weird. And AutoWebzine is just silly. And they wouldn't really fit into the Weblogs, Inc. Network if they weren't a blog.
AutoBlog with comments is really the only proper solution.

I almost forgot we were talking about the Prius. Thought it was a political blog. Let's just talk about the cars, leave your politics at the door. It may be true that a lot of tree-huggers buy the prius, but many other normal, everyday people, both young and old buy prius'. Mainly because they do fill a gap between old combustion engine cars, and the eventual alternative fuel system currently being developed. They are not a long term solution, just the best bridge from one technology to another. Toyota is also coming out with the 2006 Camry Hybrid. Which should be the best selling Hybrid on the market. You could say I too could be biased (aren't we all?), I work for Toyota at the dealership level. I have worked with many different makes and models, foreign and domestic in the service department. Hands down, Toyota is the best product out there.

WOW! 2.1% Has anyone seen the ost for the obscene dealer mark-up? A 2.1% increase means that the Prius will maintain it's lead among the "pompous twit" demographic.
