Off-Road Commander Concept - now that's a Jeep...
From the company:
Partnered with Superlift Suspensions, American Expedition Vehicles and supported with donations from Mopar and ARB 4x4. Base vehicle is 2006 Commander Limited with 5.7 L HEMI and Quadratrac II 4wd. Prototype 4.5-inches suspension lift allows the Off Road Commander to be fitted with massive 35-12.50 x 17 BF Goodrich Mud Terrain tires. The tires are covered with custom fabricated wheel flares and a heavy guage steel rock rail. Mopar accessories: front brush guard, roof mounted aluminum cargo basket, prototype tail lamp guards.
Couldn't have said it better ourselves :)

Finally the tires are more in proportion to the design. I don't get why the stock wheels and tires on the Commander are so tiny. They make it look top heavy and incapable of being a Jeep. These are obviously not practical for soccer moms, but they sure look right.

Wow! Now that is a Jeep! All the Commander needed was a lift and taller/bigger tires. The stock tires on the Commander look like training wheels in comparison to it's enormous body perportions. Superlift got this one right! Wish Jeep would offer this kind of a lift/tire option as a factory install. I'd buy tomorrow!

The reference to the Jeep Commander.com site is silly. All they do is link back to the Autoblog articles without giving any additional info.
The company doing the mod is AEV
(http://www.aev-conversions.com/), though their website is incredibly out of date, since it doesn't even have the Grand Cherokee Mojave concept they showed at the previous SEMA show. They're also responsible for the pick-up style Wrangler Brute, available with an optional Hemi engine.

Now I see what it was supposed to look like... Now I understand the whole design, otherwise stock these things fall flat.

Where's the solid front axle and articulation?

They seem to be selling these pretty well. I've seen a number of them out on the road. It's a nice looking vehicle, but its their answer to the Ford Explorer, Toyota Sequoia, etc. They had to come up with a true large suburban wagon to compete. Now I hope that they stop the silly notion of urbanizing the grand.
