Carroll Shelby unveils CS 6 Mustang at SEMA
A new Shelby Mustang will go on sale in 2006 - and it's a V6! Looking for the same combination of balance, power and
agility as the legendary GT350, Shelby Automobiles decided to use a supercharged V6 as the powerplant for its newest
Mustang, the CS 6, rather than a V8. The car is on display at the
Vortech/Paxton booth at SEMA.
The centerpiece of the engine bay is a NOVI-1200 Paxton intercooled supercharger, which boosts the output of the V6 to
more than 350 hp. Other performance enhancements include a suspension upgrade, Baer brakes and Borla dual
exhaust.
Interior and exterior mods include:
-
Custom hood
-
Custom grilles
-
New front and rear fascia
-
Custom 20" American Racing wheels
-
Shelby Automobiles badging

Earth to Carroll: The GT350 had a V8.

West Coast Customs have horid build quality, all of the cars I have seen from them where falling apart within 6 months... It is nice that they went for a v6 for the true new Shelby Mustang. Should be better on the track then a GT or a gt500. The weight balance is better, and the v6 should be more responsive throughout the powerband. Plus the v6 should make it a killer in it's class. The v8's get put into an another class with SCCA???

Grow up guys! There is nothing wrong with this concept. Should handle real well with the lighter front end.

Great concept, except for the strips on the door. Looks like a flashback to the Mustang II Cobra. AAhhhh!!!!

Wrong about the responsiveness of the centrifical supercharged v6. Centrifical superchargers add more power in the top end and does nothing in the lower rpms. I doubt the v6 + supercharger has that much wight savings over the aluminum block V8, plus the weight of the SC causes the CG to be shifted farther forward.
Carroll Shelby has been all about marketing and the all mighty dollar for decades. I lost all respect for him since his embarrasing creations in the 80s

Completely ridiculous. What a waste. A big part of the reason the Mustang is cool is the sweet sounding V8. Shelby has gone senile.

Sweet ride! Hail to 4.0L power! It is right at this point in time to give this motor/car its just dues! Carrol Shelby has just been given new respect in my book as he recognizes that the new '05-'06 V6 is a wolf in sheep's clothing and worthy of the attention that it will be getting. Stocker V8's beware! LOL!!!

As a 2005 mustang(v6) owner; shelby is smart to target the v6, but the stage 1 is basically an appearance package. i'm suprised shelby would allow a mustang with his name on it not have any performance upgrades. and how can people insult the v6, my first car was a 1991 4-cyl. 2.3L mustang, my 2005 is amazing compared to it.
The low end torque isn't great, but that's the great thing about owning a mustang is that performance upgrades can improve it.

This car is rediculous. Shelby is a retard if they actually make this car. There is no point. How is this better in any way then a v8 GT. Ford already makes a performance car, it is called the Mustang GT. There is no reason to blow a 6'er. This is a poor marketing attempt to draw the Ricer crowd at the expenses of alienating their core customers.
I have no problem with Shelby becomming a Marketer. After all, marketing is nothing more then finding a need and developing a product to meet that need. Thing is, you don't cut-off your nose to despite your face.
Anyone remember the New Coke/Old Coke fiasco of the '80's? How about when Ford tried to kill the Mustang for the Probe in the early '90's? Those are the result of decisions made by financial people trying to run a business and not having a good marketing plan.
Ford, wake up!

The V8 mustang has no problem selling, you make a car like this to boost sales, so the v6 is there for a reason. As far as everyone with the negative comments, im sure even with the v6 it will still be faster than your car.

Ford uses a blown 4.0L V6 in several performance cars in Australia. namely i am thinking of the Falcon F6 Typhoon.
i always thought they were a bit cooler than the V8 ones cause a big 6 with FI sounds like fun. though the "Boss 290" 5.4L V8 in a passenger car is pretty sweet in itself.
don't know if the 4.0L V6 they have there is the same as the 4.0L V6 in the US. but i would imagine so.
F6 Typhoon : http://www.fpv.com.au/index.asp?link_id=2.440
i can't possibly be the only one wishing the Falcon was sold here instead of the Crown Vic...

For everyone who thinks a Mustang is not a Mustang without a V8, I have a different perspective. I bought a V6 and used the difference in price to buy a supercharger. Lame you say? Well I'm young and I save $50/month in insurance costs because to the insurance company my car is a V6. I can blow the doors of the old men driving Stang GTs and they can't understand why my car goes so much faster without those fog lights. Thanks for endorsing my car Mr. Shelby

So how much extra do you think you will be paying for this car with the Shelby name attached. I bet you pay A LOT more then you would for a new GT. If you want a blown sixer then buy a V6 stang and put a blower on it yourself!

He should have put an LS2 in there. Blasphemy you say? Yes probably... but that monsterously large Ford modular V8 is HEAVY!!!
Besides, it wouldn't be the first Ford in history upgraded with a Chevy Small Block. :D

Further to your point, Elliott:
A Mustang can certainly be a Mustang without a V8. Anyone remember the 1984-86 Mustang SVO?Intercooled, Turbocharged 4cyl. with unique 4 wheel disk brakes (the GT had rear drums until 1994), 16" wheels w/ Gatorbacks, adjustible Koni shocks, and a cool functional hood scoop and a dual wing spoiler on the back. It had 175hp in 1984 (matching the 5.0 GT), 205hp in 1985.5 (also matching the V8.) All this while delivering much better handling and braking than the GT, and 15% better fuel economy.
Granted, the SVO was too expensive compared to the GT so it didn't sell, but the point is that there should be many interesting, fun, and fuel efficient solutions to making a high-horsepower Mustang. Why not have another option besides the traditional V6 & V8?
