Acura unveils TSX A-SPEC concept at SEMA
The TSX concept is a much more restrained version of Acura's RSX A-SPEC, also debuting at SEMA, without the
wide-body look of its smaller sibling.
With track 20 mm wider than stock, the TSX concept carries 19-inch wheels, and redesigned front and rear fascias for
better ventilation and downforce. Like the RSX, it also benefits from carbon-fiber underbody diffusers. Custom exhaust
and intake systems are the only engine mods. Stiffer springs and shocks, and uprated Brembo brakes all 'round complete
the picture.
The interior features Recaro sport seats and aluminum and carbon-fiber trim, for a high-tech, purposeful look.

2005 TSX A-SPEC Concept
With a restyled exterior, wider track and custom performance exhaust, the 2005 TSX A-SPEC Concept showcases the
potential of Acuras popular sport sedan. The custom exterior boasts restyled front and rear bumpers with improved
ventilation and downforce, two-part carbon-Kevlar underbody diffusers, a carbon-Kevlar rear spoiler and widened fenders
and sills. The custom exhaust exits at the center of the rear bumper. Track is increased by 20 mm, and 19-in. wheels
with a liquid mercury effect paint are wrapped in Pirelli tires. Track performance is enhanced with Acura advanced
performance tuned springs and struts and Brembo brakes with four-piston calipers. The interior styling is a combination
of aluminum dash and door inserts and carbon-Kevlar panels on the doors and center console. Recaro driver and front
passenger seats are finished in leather and suede and compliment the custom gauge cluster, 3-spoke steering wheel and
aluminum pedals.

I love the more aggressive wide track look, the carbon look in the back with the central exhaust, the interior and the wheels, but the side skirts and the front are simply to busy for me. The TSX is a bit buttoned up and boring, but I like the clean look of the design. I would love to see someone photoshop this somehow keeping the flared wheel arches and much of the new rear, but tone down the sills on both door and the rear quarter panels. There are just too many horzontal lines in only a few inches of space at the bottom of the car. Oh and while you are at it, photoshop in a supercharger...

Now I know where all the Pontiac designers went. I guess Acura wants to cater to the crowd that A civic DX with no right side mirror can be made into a sports car by adding a giant wing and ehaust can. This crap is why Acura has never been able to acheive the same status as Lexus.

Hmmm...How about some performance modifications other than an exhaust system and brembos? I think the RSX has a ringer engine. This is same old.

Snyder: You're right, Lexus knows how to put people to sleep like no other.

I love the look of the car, and no one can beat Acura's pricing, however, I would love to see more performance out of the TSX. Bump it up to 250+hp, then I'm sold.

I think the front bumper could definitely be cleaned up. There's too much going on there for this car's personality.

# 4 - you are missing the point. Acura wants to be cross-shopped with the likes of BMW, Lexus, Infinite, M-Benz ... none of those would ever break out a body-cladding spoilered monstrosity like this. The comparison to Lexus is that, like Acura, it sprang from a mainstream Japanese manufacturer as a 'Luxury' brand. No one can argue that Lexus was able to break into the upper echelon and be considered a viable contender. Example: A couple years back people would cross-shop a MB S420 with an LS400, but I am not sure Acura would hold up in that ring. Even though the Legend came before Lexus, Acura really never got beyond the 'tweener image. It is nicer than a Honda, but some day I really want a _____ . Is that _____ ever an Acura? Don't get me wrong - there is nothing wrong with the Accord and Honda makes very nice cars (FWIW, I am considering an Acura as my next purchase), but I am not sure they are of the same mettle.
Now, it is obvious that Acura would like to have that status, and they have made recent strides with the TL and RL. Turning out homegrown ricer kits is not the way to do it though.
Clever retort though - really.
