After months of fevered speculation, Honda formally announced in Tokyo today that a second Honda F1 team is a reality. The new team is named Super Aguri F1, and the cars will be called Aguri-Hondas. It's rumored that well-known Japanese I.T. company Softbank is the principal sponsor.
The company will be run by Japanese motorsports legend Aguri Suzuki (pictured) out of headquarters in Tokyo, close to Honda HQ. Operations will be based in the U.K., at the ex-Arrows F1 factory. The team has confirmed that it is talking to ex-BAR-Honda driver Takuma Sato for one of its two race seats. Another possible Japanese driver is Kosuke Matsuura, currently driving for Super Aguri Fernandez Racing in the IRL series.

The announcement brings the number of teams on the 2006 grid to eleven.
