Honda's in-house tuners debut Sport Concept Civic Si at SEMA
Could this in-house Honda concept car point the way to a future Civic "Type R" model? Let's hope so!
The well thought-out Sport Concept leaves the 197 hp powerplant unchanged, emphasizing handling dynamics and aero
enhancements. The wide-body exterior features extensive use of carbon fiber in the front and rear fascias, side skirts,
and rear diffuser. The car also receives an adjustable two-piece carbon wing.
Track is widened 50 mm, and the new suspension lowers the car 25 mm. Stiffer springs and dampers are fitted all
round, with four-piston, cross-drilled Brembo brakes on all four wheels. 19-inch Advanced Concept Design wheels with
Michelin Pilot Sports complete the picture. The chassis is stiffened by the addition of a Kevlar structural brace in
the rear seat floor area.
Nicely done.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but taking the wing off completely would make it a very sexy car, esp in that white color and maybe darker tinted windows.

I don't care, I still like the RSX more.

The wing on this is completely screwing it up. Having it angled up opposite the angle of the back of the car just doesn't look right at all. Needs to be smaller, and without the angle. Really though, a lip spoiler, or no spoiler, would probably work best.

I convinced there are more varities of a Civic then there are hookers on the Las Vegas Strip!!! I thought the civic over the past few years has kind of turned into a "has been"

the wing is probably optional, one it seems most would do without, i totally agree, a hood scoop and more skirting would probably help for me. Its nice just could use a lil more muscular look.

Get rid of the wing, and maybe try to not draw so much attention to the exhaust- double them maybe?

It's really nice that this new Civic Si, even though it's got the 200 horses, is still only 7.2 secs in the quarter, compared to the RSX-S at 6.7. Everyone was worried about that, but the RSX-S still reigns over the rest of the Honda product line (cept the S2000 of course).

It's a Honda and i like it, scarey.
My two cents to make it stand out...I would probably try to add some sort of body lines from the top & bottom of the rear tail lights to continue the shape all the way past the door handles. Maybe even insert some formed stainless steel.

I'm bummed that the new Si is not a 3-door hatch.
My 2003 Si is such a versatile car - I haul stuff in it and take it on camping and cycling trips. I have never had any complaints from back seat passengers either. The new one is a poser pocket rocket. I think Honda is missing the pendulum swing and moving from the hatch to the coupe right as the Civic Si customer is ready for versatility AND performance. Maybe my next car will be a Subaru WRX Wagon?

that. that is truly amazing. cars with 1000+ hp have a hard time doing a 7 second quarter mile. the civic must weigh like 9 ounces or something. the corvette with 400hp can barely even do it under 13 seconds!
once again superior japanese engineering reigns supreme!

....leaves the 197 hp powerplant unchanged. Cause it already has tons of torque! Come on man! Should have known, its SEMA. Its the "all show no go" show.

Oops, I meant 7.2 seconds to 60mph. Wasn't reading what I typed.

Personally, I love the look of the car. I have yet to test drive it however I am an SI fan all around so I know that I will enjoy driving it just as much as my current SI (2005) and my passed along SI (1992). I am not ready to trade up however by the end of the year I will probably add it to my collection. Definitly not ready to give up the EP3 just yet. It is a HOT lil' car though.
