It's a little too soon to call the new Mitsubishi Outlander that was officially unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show a hit, but it's debut has been a success so far. Mitsubishi began taking preorders for its new sport utility back in the middle of September and by yesterday 5,000 orders had already been placed. The Outlander officially went on sale October 17th in Japan and the company was estimating a monthly sales target of only 2,000 vehicles. One has to admit it's a sharply dressed little sport ute that, if sold in North America, would make for a great competitor in the small ute segment, especially against the new Suzuki Grand Vitara that, in our minds, it closely resembles.
