MINI debuts competition dragster
MINI USA unveiled this wild MINI at Hot Import Nights in Phoenix this week, capturing the "Best Engineered" award
for the event.
The MINI drag car was built by California tuner "Fireball Tim" Lawrence,
starting from a John Cooper Works-version MINI Cooper S. The 1700 lb, FWD racer features carbon-fiber bodywork
and a 500 hp, "twin-charger" powerplant. Fireball's blog has a
history of the build-up, with pics.
The car will make its competition debut in Pomona this weekend at the NHRA Sport Compact World Finals, followed by an
appearance at SEMA in Las Vegas.

We are looking for 10seconds, this is the first time it has been run on the track so some "shaking down" will be needed to get the car set-up properly for the fastest times
