Nissan Amenio Concept
Are minivans, pardon me, MPVs making a come-back? If you believe in J-cool, then the answer is YES.
We've already shown you Suzuki's funky P.X concept, and now, Nissan is joining in with their own cool MPV concept — Amenio. To be shown at the upcoming Tokyo show, Amenio hints toward what the next-gen Quest might look like. True, those 20-inch rims probably won't make it to production, but maybe those cool lounge chairs and that real skylight will. The coolest part of this concept, however, is the 18-inch ultra-wide monitor in the center of the IP that displays in 3 modes:
-
City Browsing — showing various points of interest along the way as you drive
-
Earth Browsing — looking down from outer space at cars traveling on earth
-
Space Browsing — displays star constellations where the Amenio is heading
Sure, Earth and Space modes are probably not terribly useful, but they are so f**king cool. And oh ya, Amenio also comes equipped with the Around View Monitor that eliminates blind spots. Who knows, maybe Chili Palmer will drive one of these in the next Get Shorty sequel.
More pics after the jump…

Better have roof glass that darkens or can be covered because it'll get hot in there!

ALL cars should come with self-darkening windows.

"ALL cars should come with self-darkening windows."
I'd love to see windows imbedded with technology similar to that of eye glasses that darken automaticly in sunlight. It'd do wonders to reduce headlight glare while driving at night. It'd also stop people from flashing their lights at my truck when we pass on the roads. It's not my fault my headlights are so bright.

This is by far one of the most stylish interiors i have ever seen on a minivan. One problem though. The chassis is the ugliest thing I have ever seen, even in the minivan segment.

I don't know if those seats would be comfortable enough to forget about that ugly exterior. I sure wouldn't want to be sitting in the back row when some bonehead smashed into the rear end...

I'm most interested in the greenhouse, mostly the side window treatment, which seems very doable and would be a nice design advancment to the segment. I agree about the skylights and add that there are a lot of times when the heat doesn't matter, and your family just doesn't want the sun in their eyes.
I wonder about the purpose of the black strip running down the center of the of the roof inside. Hopefully at at least part of it will be devoted to ventilation, which your 2nd and 3rd row passenger will definatly be clammering for.
The rear roof and tailgate treatment reminds me a bit of the Infinity concept shown last year as well as the Ford Fairlane concept.
Overall, if this is where the Quest is headed, it could be much more successful then the current generation, which has atrocious interior ergonomics and looks like a wingless Romulan Warbird.
