TomTom Inc., the Dutch producer of all-in-one navigation devices, today announced that it has partnered with AOL-owned MapQuest to launch the MapQuest Personal Navigation Device.
The MapQuest GPS-based PND will deliver accurate, turn-by-turn, voice-guided directions in a portable device designed to be mounted on the dashboard or attached to the windshield. The touch-screen device offers drivers several direction options, including "quickest," "shortest," and "avoiding toll roads."

TomTom is a market leader in Europe, but has yet to make significant inroads into the U.S. market. MapQuest, on the other hand, is so popular its name is used as a verb. Looks like a smart move on TomTom's part.
