Having already pledged over $4 Million in relief efforts to areas affected by Hurricane Katrina, Ford has announced it will increase its contribution through vehicle donations, money and in-kind contributions by $2 Million more. Ford has also dispatched its "Ford Mobile Incident Communications Command Center", a 40-foot trailer with the latest in high-tech communications equipment, to St. Bernard Parish. The community was one of the worst hit by Katrina and its law enforcement is currently using the command center as its sheriff's office.
The outpouring of aid to victims of the hurricane, especially from automakers, has been truly amazing. With the news reports of Hurricane Rita becoming more dire by the moment, we only hope that the capacity of people to give in a crisis isn't completely drained by the next time it's needed.
