Already a requirement for European and Japanese vehicles, pedestrian safety standards are probably coming to the U.S. market.
At least, that's what Flexpoint Sensor Systems is hoping. The U.S. company manufactures a Pedestrian Impact Detection System based on sensors placed in the front bumper that can tell the impact difference between a human leg and other objects in 1 to 4 milliseconds.

Flexpoint is already working with U.S. auto manufacturers and Tier 1 suppliers.
