A recent Pew poll found that 8 out of 10 US drivers think that drivers should move away from SUVs towards smaller, more economical vehicles, and 6 out of 10 think that President Bush is not taking the right approach to controlling gasoline costs. Nearly seventy percent want to see price controls on gasoline, over 80% would like higher fuel economy standards for trucks and SUVs, about 6 out of every 10 said that exploring for oil is more important than protecting the environment, and nearly everyone polled wants a free pony. Seeing as SUV and truck sales are over 50% of the US market, we can conclude that at least 3 out of every 10 Americans are hypocrites. Good luck getting those people to raise their hands, though.
