Opel Antara GTC concept
GM held a premier party Monday night a few blocks away from the Messe where the rest of the Frankfurt Motor Show is
being held. Thanks to Randall's incredible lack of navigation, we were nearly 45 minutes late and arrived just in time
for the unveiling of Opel's Antara GTC (Gran Turismo Crossover) concept. The timing was perfect, as I was able to sneak
behind the stage and take pics of the vehicle as it revolved around on stage. Read on for more info on the Antara GTC
concept…
WARNING: Lots of pics from the press kit after the jump.
The Antara GTC is a sport utility vehicle with a heavier than usual accent on the sport. Under the hood is a
twin-turbo 1.9L CDTI diesel four-cylinder that makes a stout 212 hp. The motor can propel the three-door ute to 60mph
in under 8 seconds. The design of the exterior is very clean and well proportioned with many fetching detail accents
like air vents aft of the front wheels and along the hood lines, as well as exhaust tips located in front of the rear
wheels. Kind of reminds us of a Mercedes Benz M-Class minus a pair of doors. Another trick features is a tailgate with
a pantographic hinge that swings the rear door upwards and towards the front of the vehicle so as not to force someone
to step back when opening it.
The Antara GTC was actually a breath of fresh air so far after so many vehicles weve already seen prior to the
show.

What's up with the alien ping pong balls on the dash? Could you get another shot of it from the driver's side?

Lutz says the next-gen Saturn VUE (and you'd expect chassis clones Equinox and Torrent) will be "identical" to the GTC Concept.

wow, thats a beautiful car- why can't GM bring a car like that into the states? I mean, without ugly brand cladding and stuff like that...

Take half of a FX45 and half R300 and you get an Antara!

this car is very much inspired by the Lexus RX330, even the interior looks like the previous generation rx

if they bring it to the US (under Saturn) with that 1.9L Turbo Diesel, i'd seriously consider it.. if not, it's just another chevy Equinox.

It's a 2 door version of my Murano, with about the same 0-60 time. Not particularly new although I like the styling.

this is a very nice design. it would be nice to see it in the us. hope they leave it alone (including those beautiful wheels and headlamps) if/when it comes stateside as a saturn -maybe they could call it something other than a Vue, though, to match Saturn's new outer limits theme

...and another thing, GM, if you're out there listening : ) ...keep it as a two-door, we have MORE than enough four-doors in the us already.
