Matching iPod for Your Car
iPod is a marketing machine. With more and more auto manufacturers offering or planning to offer "seamless integration" of iPod, the days of having to resort to FM transmitters are numbered. And if you are still not satisfied, how about an iPod that matches your car? Taking the concept of "seamless integration" to another level is a company called ColorWare, who custom-paints iPods using automotive-grade paint. Now, seems like it'd be a great promo for auto makers to give away matching iPods to new customers who just purchased their now "iPod compatible" cars, doesn't it? (Tap, tap…is this thing on?)

Jaguar offered black (custom colored) 3rd generation iPods a last year, including one on an online raffle. Colorware did the coloring, I think. Matching burl or carbon fiber iPods, anyone?
Sadly, too late for MINI to offer iPod mini's - they would be giving out last month's hot product.

For what it's worth, these aren't "shells" -- ColorWare actually paints your iPod using automotive-grade paint. They painted one of ours for an article we did earlier this year, and the quality is quite good; if you didn't know better, you'd think these were "factory" paint jobs.
