The press release was finally posted on the wire for Jay Leno's three standing start records in a Porsche Carrera GT at Talladega Super Speedway over the Labor Day weekend. David Donohue, the son of Mark Donahue who set a series of similar records at Talladega nearly 30 years ago, drove the GT to three flying-speed records for a production car including a closed-course speed record (196.301), measured mile (198.971) and measured kilometer (195.755). While the records were being made Porsche decided to donate the Carrera GT to an auction that will raise money for Hurricane Katrina victims.
