Fiat Auto, struggling to make a comeback, has plans to create an industrial alliance with another big automaker, CEO Sergio Marchionne announced. Because the last one with General Motors went so well, we're sure.

It won't be a merger per se; rather, it will be a strategic alliance on some key development projects. While Fiat failed to mention exactly which car company said alliance will involve, Italian newspapers are reporting that it's DaimlerChrysler that has interest. Perhaps the lady doth protest too much, but DCX is denying any plans to ally with Fiat.
