We recently posted on the BMW 5 Security Edition that's designed to withstand a direct shot from a .44 caliber magnum. What if the 5 Series was able to dish out as good as it got? The BMW 5 Series Authority Vehicle, designed for police forces, fire services and emergency rescue services, features a firearm bracket in the rear center armrest that houses an MP 5 submachine gun and three magazines. The bracket is opened from the front seats by a switch and moves forward automatically, bringing the firearm within easy reach of the driver and passenger – perfect for those situations that call for a submachine gun at a moment's notice. [Thanks to Johnny Won for the tip]

This is perfect for securing a prisoner in your backseat. It just makes the whole process for the prisoner much easier. Why not go the full 10 yards and just not detain them in the first place. On the whole Magnum .44 thing...the real test is how it handles the second, third, forth & fifth round from that same hand-cannon.

Big deal if it will stop a .44 mag. That's not particularly powerful. Any decent rifle will cut through the car like a hot knife through butter. What good is the MP5 going to do you? The windows don't roll down. And the last thing I would want to do is get out of the car to shoot back. I would prefer to get the hell out of there.

Call me clueless but it appears that most of you don't know enough about storage of guns or their accessibility in cars. This is the perfect solution for the given problem. When you arrive on the scene, it takes you 5 seconds to be out of the vehicle ready to fire. I would love to see any of you do better, without this contraption, in a safer manner! As far as protecting the occupants from a .44 cal round, thats not a small task. You have to realize that this car still perform on par with a stock 5 series despite the added weight! Chris you should try hitting any target in the same spot twice (try doing it from 10 feet away) never mind 4 or 5 times. Now try this under extremely stressful conditions and most likely while you, your target or both of you moving. Youll be LUCKY to hit this car at all!!!

Well, that certainly beats a shotgun in the trunk for accessability, and definitely has more firepower than a pistol stashed in the door pocket. Nice.

I think we found James Bond's next vehicle... But seriously, don't shoot without lowering the windows. If you do, you'll kill yourself. Haha.

Sweet. If only consumers could buy it. Or can they?

Chris, call me crazy, but I'd guess that securing a prisoner in the back seat isn't one of the design criteria for a vehicle with nice leather seats. Mr. Black, what you're looking at there is a submachine gun, not an assault rifle.
