The U.S. is home to some of the most entertaining forms of motorsport on the planet. This Sunday, while the glitterati are mingling at Monza, the United States Auto Club Weld Racing Silver Crown cars return to the Du Quoin State Fair "Magic Mile" for some of the best open wheel racing you'll ever see.
Today's Silver Crown cars are the descendents of the original Champ Cars - the cars that launched the careers of Mario Andretti and AJ Foyt, among others. They remain a uniquely American training ground for professional racers like NASCAR's JJ Yeley, pictured at right.

If you get a chance, go see these cars. No tobacco advertising controversies, no contrived "Race for the Chase" - just pure racing, up close and loud.
