After much speculation, it's official: Ford Motor Company and DaimlerChrysler have followed GM in ingesting the hair of the dog that bit them. If analysts' predictions are right, this is going to be one heck of a hangover. Ford is a reluctant follower, but the company has still chosen to extend discounts through September 30 rather than the previously-announced September 6. DaimlerChrysler announced its Employee Pricing program will run through October 3.

Ford has also followed GM in extending the program to its 2006 SUV lineup, but DCX so far has no plans to include any 2006 vehicles in its offer.
