Jackie Chan Special Edition Mitsu Evo IX
Unlike the rumored P. Diddy edition Ranger Rover that never got anywhere, the Jackie Chan edition Mitsubishi Evo IX is all business. If you are die-hard Jackie fan, you might already know the close relationship between Mitsu Motor and the martial arts action star as all the cars in his earlier movies were supplied by the Japanese firm. Today, even though that contract is long over, Jackie is still a big Mitsu fan and likes to drive around Hong Kong in his one of a kind FireSports Evo XIII MR made just for him. A few month back in Singapore, he unveiled the Jackie Chen Special Edition Evo IX that he developed with FireSports. A total of 50 of these special Evos will be available worldwide at a hefty $77,193 a piece.

The reason for Singapore, I believe: he had a smash hit with the still-not-available-the-US &(@*^!* (grrrr!) Thunderbolt. It broke some sort of box office record there at the time.
This involves Jackie driving what I believe was an earlier Evo (and beating the crap out of people in amusing ways, of course). A great combination for Autoblog readers...

That is one fugly car after Jackie puts his "design" skills to it.

The movie you mentioned is called "Who am I?" where Jackie Chan drives a '99 Evo through the streets of Amsterdam, outrunning some older (1994ish) BMW 318i's, and does some pretty fascinating tricks and stunts with it. And yes, at the end, the car is a complete wreck (it was driven sideways on only two of its wheels at one point of the movie).
And, on another tone, didn't you guys get the news? It's not "P. Diddy" anymore, it's just "Diddy" now. God, you guys are soooo behind current affairs!

Why didn't the design group stop him, he put the steering wheel on the wrong side of the car!!!

Actually, Jackie did make a movie Thunderbolt..it starts off w/street racing in HK, then moves to Japan for some racing (JGTC?). Nice cars in the movie, crappy soundtrack. =) He actually starts off working at a Mitsu factory (tuning a 3000GT). Then he races a R32 Skyline with a Mitsu FTO. Then he puts together and races an EVO III, then moves on to 2 3000GT's (2 versions...you see them swap between the two in the last scene). The cars are nice, though some of the stunts are eh...and the dubbing is nasty. ;) Wish they still had the laserdisc version around...that had the movei in the original language. Anyway, you can pick this movie up on Ebay.

couldn't find any info at the link, is the Jackie Chan version purely cosmetic? HP increase? Lighter wheels? Reduced weight? Stiffer suspension?
Anybody know?

Does it cause cars that it gets rear-ended by to flip end-over-end? Will it fly through 40 foot tall observation towers which then explode despite the lack of any visible combustible materials?
Thunderbolt has to have some of the cheesiest racing scenes ever devised, and a throwaway plot of little to no redeeming value... and if it ever gets a US DVD release I'll be first in line to grab it.

The look is great ! One of the few cars which can get away with having golden rims.
