Saab to return to three doors?
A reader (thanks Swade) sent us a tip about the 9-6X pictures on
the TrollhattanSaab.net website. They show a very interesting three door SUV, probably a version of the 9-6X. Some
others on the site commented that it might be a 9-4X, but the Saab in these pictures is clearly derived from the Subaru
Tribeca. It was said that Saab would introduce the 9-7X and then follow with a crossover SUV based on the Subaru B9
Tribeca. I expect to see this exact vehicle at Frankfurt. We question where these photos came from and if they
are legit, but they are interesting to see.

They were taken with a cameraphone. They are legit, but the source who took them tells me that there has been no decision yet as to whether or not the model would go into production.

To clear up the previous comment:
The lack of decision regards whether or not a 3-door version would go into production. The 9-6x is now confirmed for production as far as we know.

Reminds me of the Mazda MX-Crossport concept, but without back doors. I dig it. The Tribeca looks SO much better in Saab clothing.

Looks like Saab and Subaru are merging; if not companies, certainly cars.

I just read in the German Autobild that they also plan on producing a 9-4X that is based on the Theta platform. Same as Saturn Vue, Chevy Equinox and Opel Frontera. I think that makes much more sense than using Subarus Tribeca platfrom. But maybe the 9-6X is for the U.S. market only and the 9-4X is for the rest.

The picture with this article looks like a tired old Saab Hatchback to me. Perhaps this is all a joke, but I'm not getting it!

look at the headline "Saab to return to three doors?"
3 doors is SAAB history.

Compare it to the original 9-3X showcar from a few years ago...pretty similar.

Not sure why they'd put those horizontal tailights on this when they have the much better looking lights on the new 9-3 Sportcombi as well as the orig 9-3X showcar.
