The Wet Dream Cruise
We've arrived at the 2005 Woodward Dream Cruise and waddya know, it's raining. As soon as we found a parking spot for our Arc we headed out onto the avenue to discover that taking pictures in a downpour is a great way to destroy a piece of expensive modern technology. On our walk from the car to the media center we passed Takata Chrysler and snapped pics of the new Dodge Charger Dayton RT. Supposedly Chrysler has a lot full of them across the street, but we left our swim trucks in the car and don't feel like braving the rapid waters streaming down Woodward. You can check out the few pics we managed to snap after the jump, and we'll try to post more throughout the day. The doppler is showing a giant green stain over the entire state of Michigan though, so this trip may turn out to be a bust if the rain continues. If that's the case, we're going to see a movie instead.

Speaking of the lousy Michigan weather, I saw a Pontiac Solstice for the first time today while it was raining. Good thing the top was up!

is that condensation build-up inside that Charger headlight? or is it a camera thing (glare, etc)?

Autoblog reader meet-up? It'd turn into a shootout if we did. I know I'd aim for Joseph Williamsen first.

The look of the Charger doesn't hold up to many angles other than in black in the powersliding promo shot. Every other photo exposes how big and chubby looking it is.
On the opposite end, the illusion created by the paint job and huge rims on that new Mustang actually make it look a lot less fat and a tad more streamlined, bringing it closer to the original concept version. The concept was hot, the production model is not.

So is this title supposed to be a double entendre, or was that just coincidence?

Looks like there is just water on the front of it and it is turned on so it is lighting up the droplets.

It's "ark" not arc and . . . what the hell is a "swim truck"?

It's obvious that a "swim truck" is an "arc" you park!

Don't give up on those photos. I took some of my best stuff at Cruisin' the Coast in Biloxi in the middle of a rainstorm. Water droplets on newly waxed multi-layer paintjobs are beautiful.
