Reuters is reporting that Mitsubishi and Fuji Heavy Industries, parent company of Subaru, are two of Japan's hottest stocks heading into Friday. Mitsubishi stock rose 2.8% on news that the company is planning to move up its launch of electric vehicles to 2008 from 2010, despite denials from Mitsubishi itself that the timing of the launch hadn't changed. Fuji Heavy, meanwhile, made news by announcing that Subaru would produce a hybrid by April of 2007 featuring a li-ion battery developed together with NEC. The launch of said hybrid, however, will be a trial and not intended for the mass market. Boy, it seems all you have to do is mention the words "hybrid" or "electric vehicle" to get some attention these days.
P.S. - Hybrid. Electric vehicle.
