BMW to introduce Z4 coupe
Sales of the Z4 have not met BMW's expectations, falling every year since the car's introduction in 2002 to 25,298 units this year. A coupe version of the Z4 is being planned to bolster sales until the car's replacement, dubbed the E89, arrives in 2009. The coupe appears to have a Bangle butt, although overall we think the look is more pleasing than the awkward BMW M Coupe that appeared near the end of the first generation's run. If the coupe does sell well, expect another coupe version of the E89 when it debuts.

the back end of that is really nice, but that front hood sure looks disproportionately long. and i hate that front grill. and for the record, i liked the previous coupe. it sure looked like nothing else on the road, too.

i disagree. the bmw m coupe is one of my favorite designs of all time. i've owned two and hope to own one again one day.

this design as most current bmw designs are just amaturish and cheap! look like hot wheels!

i'll second (third?) jayp and shoefly's thoughts that the m/z3 coupe was a wonderful design. i'd love to own one. this z4 thing though...

#5 right on! i have always loved the little m hatch that no one i know has ever liked. that car was so hated it seems, but man i think the m coupe is hot!

styling aside, if bmw knows the sales of the z4 is falling off a cliff, why is the replacement 4 years away?

add me to the list of m coupe lovers. have never owned one, but it's at the very top of my list of cars i hope to have in my stable some day.
the z4 coupe, while not as cool imho as the m coupe, is still pretty darn sexy. much better than the roadster.

i've always heard owners and reviewers of the m coupe say it's wonderful. i drove one and was amazed at the power, but it rattled horribly (and i was test driving a new one!).
but the bottom line is that the m coupe didn't sell well. i don't care how much you loved it, the numbers weren't there. the z3 was successful and the coupe flopped. how do they expect a failing z4 to spawn a successful coupe? this is a night-and-day difference between the z4 and the boxter/cayman.

ive drawn better takes on a bmw coupe theme and thrown them out. i know this is a photoshop-chop, but its gonna be hard to make the somewhat ungainly z4 into a sexy coupe. as a friend of mine says: "its hard to make chicken salad out of chicken s!@*."

i seem to be a rarity. i've seen this photo a few times during the past week and think it looks pretty hot. i usually really dislike convertibles, but the z4 is one of the few i like and having a coupe version would be even better.
the only thing i wish they would do is get rid of the line going across the nose by re-incoporating the grill as part of the hood.

i loved the old m coupe. bmw styling looks cheap and gimicky to me. this new coupe continues the breed. not for me.
i did not even look at bmw when i bought a new car this spring.

to each his own, i guess. i think the m coupe was the best looking car that bmw has ever produced. my wife thinks it looks like snoopy. we both think the z4 coupe looks like a turd, though, so at least we agree on something.

design is subjective. this new version i think is much better looking than the old coupe it replaces which looked like an old worn out tennis shoe.

as an admirer of bmw's who thought every year in the 90's they just got prettier and prettier, i'm amazed at the looks they're embracing now. bangle or whomever. fix it or die a slow death. i've never liked the z4's industrial design. this coupe idea improves it but the fact that the old-in my eyes-'classic' coupe wasn't embraced leaves this one with little hope. afraid of a little noise in a track ready factory car? get a lexus...
