Ford set to sell $125,000 racing Mustang
That's one expensive 'Stang, but the FR500C is built strictly for racing since it's virtually identical to the track
car that races on the Grand-Am Cup road-racing circuit. The FR500C will be powered by Ford Racing's 5.0L "Cammer R50"
V8 that develops more than 400 hp and 400 lb-ft. of torque, all in a car that weighs 200 lbs. lighter than the base
Mustang. These pony cars won't be street legal, but the 25 being built for sale by August will be ready to race right
out of the box.

#1: Please note the missing headlight is to allow it to function as an air intake port.

Well, I am wrong. Looks like there was some damage and a headlight is supposed to be there.

This is really old news. Ford released this information months ago.

Ok call me stupid but wouldn't it be cheaper to take a production v6 stang, crate engine from last years cobra, then strip the car, mount rollbars, bear/brembo brakes and custom your own susp?

Can anyone say IROC race? Although not a Mustang fan in the least, I would thoroughly enjoy watching something like this.

Mike,
This is not old news. Ford announced that you would be able to buy the FR500C, but it had not been added to the catalog until now.

Brad
The story was about Ford selling this car, not about it being added to the catalog. This is very old news as Ford released this information (about it being for sale) a long time ago when the car was originally debuted.
