2007 Camry spy pictures
Last month pictures of the undisguised 2007 Toyota Camry leaked around the internet, so these pictures are not a big deal. Edmunds is predicting the new Camry to debut at the Tokyo Motor Show in October and U.S. sales should start second quarter of next year.

Clearly every soccer mom needs 260hp on tap. I love power just as much as the next guy but it seems a little ridiculous when Camry's are going to be running 14's in the quarter...

Toyota's tupperware appears to remain a dull, old-fart car driven by people who don't care about what they drive. The only thing the Camry has succeeded in doing is to become more normal with each new version. Remember the original Camry? Cheaply made, ugly, boxy, and it still sold. Then there was the version with the Edsel ugly station wagon bought by idiots who would buy anything made by Toyota.
The latest Camry is almost normal looking but is still as fascinating as Tupperware. Doesn't make it a good car, but it will never be fondly remembered like a 1957 Chevrolet. Yeah, picture this, Barrett-Jackson is auctioning off a 40 year old Camry. Will that fetch anything like the vintage Chevrolets? It doesn't have anything memorable about it other than it was well screwed together. Yawn.

has reliability and affordability ever crossed your mind? Clearly you know nothing about cars, or the people that buy/drive them.

How much will your Cobalt, Cavalier, Sunfire, etc fetch 40 years from now? Oh, nothing I guess because it's not even bolted properly enough to last that long.

"has reliability and affordability ever crossed your mind?"
They've crossed MY mind, and they're not my number one concern. There are lots of reliable, affordable cars out there. Why wouldn't I choose one that also looks good?
A Camry is a great appliance car. If that's what you want, knock yourself out. It's not what I want. What's wrong with that?

I have to say that I have driven many many cars in my life, American, German, Asian. I've also driven many of the Camry's competitors (Accord, Passat, Tauras, Intrepid, Stratus etc). No matter what I end up driving, I still long to go back to my Camry. Lee, have you every owned a Camry? You get a good feeling everytime that you sit down in the driver seats, I do at least.

I ride the bus to work, drive a Subaru wagon, and look forward to a new Mazdaspeed 6 or maybe a used Infiniti G35 coupe when new car time comes next year.
My point is only this: There are lots of reasons people buy cars, and lots of different cars to buy. Just because I don't like Toyotas or GMs doesn't mean you can't.
What's wrong with that?

The only remaining question is will this iteration come with a flat folding driver's seat, so that you can slip gently into a deep peaceful slumber as you're driving it?
Once again, this is 2005, MOST cars are very reliable.

"Once again, this is 2005, MOST cars are very reliable."
For the first couple years, yes most are very reliable. But after 5-10 years (and after the warranty expires) most domestic cars need frequent repairs and are not very reliable compared to a Camry or any Toyota. Face it, not every car buyer is looking for the best looking car on the street. Most just want a decent looking car that is affordable and that they will not have any problems with for a while. Thus making the Toyota Camry the best selling mid-size sedan in American today.

The change isnt dramatic
It has become more squarer, more like the current honda accord
I dont think its size isnt going to increase any further, because the current wheel base 107, is pushed a little more will become like avalons 111
But the style is a lot more bolder, thick lines, large wheel arches, aggressive face...
I am sure toyota wants to emphasise the performance aspect, from the new 3.5??
anyhow no matter how many horses it has people will find some reason to call it bland,
The current camry has 242 lb feet of torque which is the highest in class, and looks sharper and more distinct than any car but somehow it is referred to as the Blandest car?????

333, torque is not the single determinant of non-blandness. Blandness comes from a car's lack of character, which in turn usually comes from a design-by-committee approach. Most Europeans are totally puzzled why the Camry is so beloved in America: you can have a car, or you can have a domestic appliance. Both will get you from A to B, but only one has je ne sais quoi. The current Corolla, as much as I think the exterior design is cohesive, has one of the worst cabins I have seen.
As to this new Camry, it's a pleasing evolution from the current one. I believe the current one has a lot of imagination due to its proportions, but I am glad Toyota has made this one a little sportier. I don't think the glasshouse is carryover; it's the same level of change as between current and previous E-class Mercs.
But you're going to need to convince me a helluva lot to tell me this car has any more character than the last 25 years of Camrys. Japanese cars always look good for about six months after launch, then they date horribly. The current Corolla is an exception, as is the Mazda 6.

I really dont see how the current camry is dating horibly, its been about 4 years andit still looks fresher than any other cars,
wELL, character is hard to put in words but i will try it my own way
Think of cars as girls, there are some attractive teens with tight skin... who can give you lot of fun in a date, but she aint too good at anything else,
this character is analogous to sports cars with tight springs
the other is like a lady who isnt necessarily showy or attractive, but she cooks well, does the kitchen laundry, takes care of u all the time, and though not attractive u will love her more the more u stay with her, this is also a character, which u called an "APPLIANCE'' and camry falls in this catagory,
surely there is no denying that camry is not a sports car, but I guess my strange analogy could shed some lights on the fact that almost all camry buyers buy camry again,
