A first in NHRA Top Fuel

Dave Grubnic NHRA 250 PR

With Australian Dave Grubnic's win at the O'Reilly Summer Nationals in Topeka, KS, he becomes the first Top Fuel driver from outside North America to win a national event (his victory at last year's Budweiser Shootout doesn't count as it's an "unofficial" event). After settling for runner-up seven times previously, a win seemed long overdue. John Force stretched out his winning streak to three in a row in the Funny Car class. Dave Anderson, who completely dominated Pro Stock last year but has faced far stiffer competition in '05, continues to climb back up towards the top with his third win in a row.
