The Chinese government approved Ford's plant to build an engine plant in China. The primary purpose is to supply engines to the nearby Nanjing vehicle factory that is run by Ford, Mazda, and the local Changan Automobile Co. It may also supply engines for other factories in China and is part of a $1 billion investment program for Ford. China is getting a ton of attention lately as it is the fastest growing automobile market in the world and a potential manufacturing base for autos for other markets.
