Pony Package for '06 Mustang
2006 model information is beginning to circulate and a new V-6 Mustang package will be ready for the next model year. The Pony Package is just a visual upgrade that will include a new grille with small fog lamps and "corral" around the Mustang, new lower grille, new rocker panel stripes and pony front floor mats and fender badges. Other changes include optional 18" wheels for the GT and two new colors. 'Tis the season.

Here's a pic of the new grille, complete with fog lights and "corral": http://bradbarnett.net/mustangs/timeline/05/06/NewGrille2.jpg
Talk about making the Mustang even more "classic" ... that grille looks like it was taken straight from a '67 'stang.

Looks Great.
Just another styling cue from the 60s packed into an already great looking car.
Fords really on the Ball with the Mustang.
Anymore hits Ford?

Nice. I am going to be in the market for a new car in about a year, and I am already in love with the 05 Mustangs. This new package makes me even more interested in one.

How is it Ford can be so right with the Mustang and be such a dud with the Ranger? I was hoping that Ford would do something like this to the regular Mustang (don't like the GT's grill and headlight package). Way to go, Ford!
Yo, Mr. Lutz.....yeah, you, Putzy. Remember when you had a Camaro? Do you even know what a Camaro is? Look at Ford selling all the Mustangs it can build and with no rebates.
Remember when your company could actually sell a car without a rebate? Hmmmmm?

I have to say, looking at a torch red 2005 Mustang GT convertable everyday isn't a bad thing. From my desk at the Ford Dealership, I have the best seat in the house. :) I can't wait for the GT500 to be sitting in it's spot. Not too long ago it was the Tonka Truck in the Mustangs parking spot.

Here is the 2006 Mustang Pony V6 foglamp compared to the 2005 Mustang GT foglamp.

Don't forget that the pony package comes with the GT suspension and 17" tires.

The new V6 package looks good but when is Ford going to upgrade the engine. The Ford V6 has to be the weakest in the industry. Honda sixes put out over 240hp, Mitsubishi has a 260hp six and Nissian a 270hp one. 210hp in a Mustang in this day and age is a disgrace, do you really want to get dusted by an Accord?

I would like to point out to Ford that as all the imports and many small domestic models have all gone to dual exhausts, why would Ford not put dual exhausts on it's new Mustang V6?
After all the Mustang was always a ' sporty ' car. Plus the fact that the quicker the exhaust fumes exit a car the better. Also in fitting duals to the V6 they wouldn't have had to produce two different rear pans and so have another cost cutting idea. With dual tailpipes the rear end looks so much more balanced in appearance, down with single tailpipes!....Just a thought Ford.
Maybe Robert Parker Ford Car Marketing Manager just might be able to sway someone as to the reduced cost factor.

This morning, I just bought a 2006 Mustang Premium Coupe V6 with the Pony Package, Windveil Blue, dark charcoal leather interior, automatic, side air bags, upgraded dashboard accent with MyColor, Shaker 500 sound. The new grille/fog lamps and the 17 inch Bullet wheels really ice the cake on an already outstanding looking car. I test drove both the V6 and V8, and as much as I appreciated the V8's extra power, I found the V6 to be a better balanced car and not front-end heavy. By the way, the V6 is no slouch, and it has a great throaty sound in it's own right. With the upgraded suspension, wheels, tires, ABS, and traction control, the V6 Pony's handling is exceptional. In one day, I've had 7 people stop and ask me about the car - from college frat boys to baby-boomer executives to even a "little old lady from Pasadena" type grandma who asked all the right questions. Ford really hit a grand-slam out of the ballpark with the new Mustang. Ford, if you're reading this, congratulations. Now, lets fix the T-Bird!

I bought a black V6 convertible 2006 Mustang on Sunday. I had been looking at Boxsters, A4, Z4 et al. I had driven the base V6 Mustang Coupe when it first hit and (already owning a tuned up V6 mustang 2001 convertible) was under-whelmed. When I went back and took at look at the V6 with Pony Package and the interior upgrade I was smitten. The test drive confirmed that it was more stable and balanced than the first one that I had driven. The overdrive auto box is no slouch. I drove of with it two hours later. It is incredible what $30k will buy you in this car, compared to ANY of the competition.
This new model upgrade takes a good remake and makes it exceptional.
