700 horsepower and a killer body, the Maybach Exelero may hint a new high-performance model from the ultra-lux sedan maker. The V-12 coupe is based on the Maybach 57 and designed to test a high-speed tire for the German tire manufacturer Fulda. The Exelero needed to surpass the 188 mph mark for Fulda. The super-Bach can get to 55 mph in 4.4 seconds with the help of two turbochargers and 740 ft-lbs of torque. We were amazed how finished the interior was. Click to see more pictures of this interesting concept. Thanks hp for the tip.

that is ugly from every angle.
Seth L @ Dec 18th 2005 10:32PM
DCX needs to build it, and make it look EXACTLY like that. Cost is no option right? I mean it's an established platform, charge 1 Million.
Hope it beats they Veyron to market too, that would be amusing.
p.bubel @ Dec 18th 2005 10:32PM
Exelero???
I would expect to see that name on a Kia, not a Maybach.
EricNH @ Dec 18th 2005 10:32PM
Looks like the next Batmobile
Seth L @ Dec 18th 2005 10:32PM
#3, yeah, the name sounds like a cartoon kangeroo.
ebp2k2 @ Dec 18th 2005 10:32PM
I can picture the rappers ringing up their agents to put this car in their next video, LOL.
Evan McC @ Dec 18th 2005 10:32PM
Looks like a cross between a 57, a Crossfire, and an SLR. Yet, in some gothic-baroque mannerism, I love it.
Change the grille, re-name it Zeppelin, and if I ever get a cool-half-mil to drop on a two-seat coupe, I'd consider it.
Miss Pistola @ Dec 18th 2005 10:32PM
Yeah and I can imagine some borderline retards such as Nelly or 50 Cent putting some assy spinner wheels on it and totalling "Ebonifying" the hell out of it to the point that the car is merely a cartoony shadow of itself. But you ask any ghetto rat on the street, and they'll say "Dang - That sh!t is TIGHT!"
Jason R. @ Dec 18th 2005 10:32PM
That batmobile comment is SPOT ON. I thought the exact same thing. Bruce Wayne's "night on the town" car.
EpaL @ Dec 18th 2005 10:32PM
I look at that car and all I hear is Mr. Burns saying "Eeeeexcellent".
Rence @ Dec 18th 2005 10:32PM
I'd love to see more excentric cars like this.. Caddilac should bring out the Sixteen and compete with this baby :)
Almost like the pre WW2 days of automotive history where you still had bugatti and the likes coming out with ridiculously big and expensive cars.. now if only Bugatti got that Veyron thing over and done with and get to work on a serious luxury car.
CJ @ Dec 18th 2005 10:32PM
Bad name, exciting design.... maybe this stuff will trinkle down to the commuter-mobiles...
wang @ Dec 18th 2005 10:32PM
I am almost afraid to read the comments on this blog when the topic is a Maybach, Bentley, etc.. because whenever a car costing 100K+ is discussed-- OUT COME THE RACISTS!
This concept car certainly seems interesting, but how can we turn the topic toward 'how much we hate people of other backgrounds..'
JG3 @ Dec 18th 2005 10:32PM
Yuck. Did they get the grill from the leftovers at the Rover plant?
JG3 @ Dec 18th 2005 10:32PM
Exelero....It reminds me of Marge Simpson's "Canyonero" suv.
avixe @ Dec 18th 2005 10:32PM
This is a really neat, somehow retro design. Especially the back end. It reminded me immediately of some of the Bugattis at the Ralph Lauren car show.

Where are the racists? I see some people talking about rappers, and the crazy things they do to cars in their videos, but not all rappers are any particular race.
Oh, I see. You brought that stereotype to the party.
Chris Sullivan @ Dec 18th 2005 10:32PM
Did they consider calling it the Lamprey? How about the Maybach Monkfish? Hideous front end.
rob rudorf @ Dec 18th 2005 10:32PM
that is a stunning design. I can see that car winning at pebble beach in 25 years or so. I personally would not like to own it but I do respect the 1930's style.
crashedKin @ Dec 18th 2005 10:32PM
Where are the racists? Hello? Did you read #8's post. Miss Pistola specifically chose Nelly and 50 cent (news flash...both black) and then went on to say "Ebonifying". Ebony, in case you missed it in class on day, is another word for BLACK!
If you need any more help finding the racists, please ask...maybe we can get you flashing neon signs or big foam fingers or something.
