We can start with conspiracy theories or just own up that the hardtop-convertible Chery M14 was one of the few cars at the Shanghai Auto Show that was designed by an outside source. The Pininfarina-penned car gets all sorts of praise from Malcolm "The Mouth" Bricklin from the sub-$19,000 U.S. price tag to a boast that the M14 is a "state-of-the-art, high-performance automobile, the likes of which have never been seen in the United States." Cough, cough… Sorry we just choked on our drink. More grandiose language closes out this press release that promises sales of 2,000,000 vehicles in the U.S. with 1,000,000 of them built at VV/Chery facilities in the U.S. Whoa-up there Silver, let's get one dealership and a car sold in the States before you promise millions of sales and assembly lines. Like sands though the hourglass…

I am surprised even the legitimate people in the automotive industry like Pininfarnia got taken in by VV's con!!!

http://www.carlist.com/autonews/2005/autonews_152.html says that they won't be called Chery and they won't be sold at Walmart

Yeah, I hope Chery and The Mouth get booted all the way back to China so that I will no longer wonder if it was a Chevy post or a Chery post I am reading. What a stupid, blatent rip-off of a name, intentional or not. It is plain irksome!

Wouldn't it be funny if the decline of GM and the rise of Chery were purposefully related. Imagine...GM is losing money hand over fist on their U.S. operations...but in China things are pretty good for GM. Lutz left the U.S. for China...Doesn't seem like a totally bizarre suggestion that maybe the two companies are linked?? Chery/Chevy??? What if GM starts shutting down plants taht Chery moves into. Hourly labour rates could plummet (a lower-paying job is better than no job at all), medicare costs could disappear (new contract...no freebies...not til years of collective bargaining get us back to the same spot). Damn, I think I'm on to something. Talk about GM finding a way to become viable again. Close a few plants and move in a cheaper product.

This looks like a solara/old cougar styling. It looks ok. Although the price seems to high for a car that could also just ride into the sunset, ala, yugo's. I'd have to wait for 3 years or more to see if quality issues end up being a concern. It looks ok, but the rear end does look a little "heavy" imo, to go along with the small car look.

"Like sands though the hourglass…" These are Malcolm Bricklin's lies?

Wow. Yes, the "design is all wrong". I guess Pinninfarina have no idea what theyre doing, as they only designed most of the Ferrari's of the past 30 years or so... I guess good old GM could show them a thing or two with their stunning Pontiac Aztec... or the sexy Chevy Aveo. Personally, I'm with "the Mouth" on this one - GM seems to have a ton of money to spend on frivolous lawsuits that they should actually spend on cars. The cars they intend to bring over will all be Pinninfarina or Bertone designed, NOT the QQ (which incidentally had higher quality scores than the GM "Spark" it is said to have been copied from). Why on god's earth would any manufacturer actually WANT people to think their cars are made by Chevy? It would be a death sentence. Ford or Chrysler - they are finally getting their act together with some pretty good product, but GM??

it looks nice, but the quality... who knows... I bet it's even not good as a Hyundai. anyway, I may buy one when it's here.

(sometime i will be) think that isn't Italian's designs. I think it will be looked like prugrot 306 CC or Mercury Cougar or Mitsubishi Colt CC(!?). Named "Chery" was look like Chevy (Chevrolet). Why they named it "Chery". But in china, I know in China have manufacturer that named "BYD". And its logo was looked like BMW's logo!!!

http://www.chemicalelements.com/elements/co.html Cobalt Does Indeed equate to "Evil Spirit". I hope the evil spirit has an equally evil impact to GM's management team. Truth is then most certainly can use an exorcism.

It looks great and I can't wait to see it here in the US. I'm looking foward to buying it when it's here.

Re: #8, seeing as the M14 is an Italian design, allow me to rephrase your last statement - "I think the Italians better stick to copying until they learn design basics."
