Lexus supercar caught on tape
Want to see the new super-Lexus in action taking turns at Nurburgring race track? Edmunds has the video tape of the over 500 horsepower, over $100,000 car that will look a bit like LF-A concept car Toyota showed at Detroit. We still have a few years to wait for the production to break cover, with most estimates targeting the 2007 Tokyo Motor Show. The Lexus will be tied closely to Toyota's Formula One efforts.

Geeze, Edmunds was not paid to be there to shoot that were they?

Seriously. It is suspiciously good footage.

I will take the Aston Martin!
I agree on the "spy footage", right!

the music reminds me of those old need for speed II video clips

Truth is, we bought that footage from an unauthorized shooter who nabbed it fair and square. The Nurburgring is delightfully insecure!

How old is this? Brenda Pirddy shot a pic of what looks like the same car last year, looks like she taped the video as well:

I love the last shot of it pulling away and then ending up right behind a Supra.

I too think this "spy" footage is suspect. How many cameras did they have at the "ring"? This looks like the same kind of video you'd get off of ESPN of a real race. Multiple cameras to follow the cars at every turn, someone just happened to be there at the gate when the car was leaving. Oh, and they drove it away instead of putting it on a trailer?
This car was meant to be seen.

And meant to be filmed. It's so obvious. You won't get that many camera's (not to mention high quality camera's that can zoom & swivel with that much clarity) anywhere near that track. No way, no how. Somebody was paid to be there.
I'm willing to be it was by Toyota. The footage is just too professional to be done by somebody that is not a professional.
This just gives solid proof that automakers will gladly pay to have "spy footage" create the type of buzz they wish to garner. And also proves "journalists" or spy photographers can be bought.

The videographer -- a professional spy shooter -- will be flattered to know you think multiple cameras were necessary to get that footage! (I'm less flattered by your presumptions about how journalism works, but never mind.)
The simple reality is that the 'Ring is a large, open, public place, so no one takes a car there if they're paranoid about it being seen. Toyota has displayed the LF-A in auto shows, remember, and spoken of it on the record. So sightings that generate buzz can indeed be good things, especially when there is no current model whose sales need protecting. But the automaker doesn't arrange or pay for this stuff. Doesn't have to! --k

You're right, she's a spy photographer. A 10-second google search could've told anyone that. Are you the same Kevin Smith that was with MT?
The debatable Toyota bias on your site is one thing, but your presence here is nearly an admittance of guilt. For the record, I am not an anti-import troll and respect Toyota's quality typically found in their lineup. I would still like to know the date of the video.
I see no reason why I should put trust in journalism given the current climate. I look around and notice the following: FoxNews, paid stock promotions, and all sorts of lies in-between.
