International CXT reviewed

When we first saw stories on the International CXT we didn't think it would be sold in huge numbers or taken as anything more than a celebrity overindulgence. For the most part we were right, but it seems the Boston Globe actually reviewed the thing for a regular column. Unfortunately we don't really hear (or see) much that we haven't before. There are exactly two paragraphs describing the actual driving experience of the CXT. The rest seems to be all about celebs and specs we can get off the International website.

My apologies to "Royal Ford" (if that is his real name) of the Boston Globe. But it seems as though his review has simply been lifted from Jay Leno's review in Popular Mechanics. I wonder if he even drove the truck or simply regurgitated what he heard from Mr. Leno. Having read that article myself (http://www.popularmechanics.com/automotive/sub_coll_leno/1368287.html)
I can say that Mr. Leno is much more informative as well as entertaining, although I guess that is why he is famous and Mr. Ford is simply riding his franchise name to a gig at th Boston Globe.

what an odd, unusual vehicle. this is even beyond the hummer family!
"There are exactly two paragraphs describing the actual driving experience of the CXT."
i wouldn't expect much more about the driving experience. how often would you drive such a thing? lol
i don't read much more than that in your 5-day reviews! taking an exit ramp a little hard is the most driving sensation i've read on the AutoBlog. it would be fun to read more driving comments...maybe take these loaner cars to a back road, and floor it to 60, jam the brakes on a full lock from 60, try some lane changes at highway speeds. build a little autocross in a schoolyard. some more driving comments would be appreciated here!
i wouldn't mind all the sentences on dash vents, washing the car, how pedestrians/drivers react, and what trips we're taking if there were more visceral driving here in a 5-day review!

"build a little autocross in a schoolyard"

How is this any different then the consumers that have been buying f450's and 550's and even a few 650's, as well as GMC/Chevy topkick/Kodiak c4500/5500 buyers. I see about 3 a year that have regular truck beds on them used as 3rd wheelers or heavy towing applications most for larger boats or camping trailers and motercross bikes.

This is not that big of a deal. These are just commercial duty trucks outfitted with better interiors. Nothing really to see her move along.

Can't we have another discussion on how White Trash would love to own one of these trucks?

Simply put, there is a huge market for the International CXT, its a big, mean truck with style and lots of power. Some people who purchase the Hummer H1, could consider buying the International CXT, people want to be different and a lot bigger including rich people. Some people buy a monster truck, why not the International CXT.

This thing is above white trash so you are going to have to come up with your own white trash argument.
Hold on a sec, is this made by GM? It may qualify as white trash if GM is responsible for it but we would need some complex connections there...

I hear ya...truth be told, I hate GM cars myself. They really ARE the epitome of tastless trash. When you work hard and Strive to own a GM vehicle...there's no other word for it my friend.

Pretty pathetic and brainless comment Craig . GM is the largest car company in the world, you think every person who owns a GM vehicle is white trash, are all Cadillac owners white trash. I could just as easily say that all Ford owners are trash, but im not an idiot who judges people by the cars they drive. Find something productive to do you stupid troll
Also, to the nitwit who posted directly above him. Getting your associates degree from community college doesnt mean your going to law school

Dale Earnhardt should have been racing on of these things...the rednecks would have gone wild seeing him crash into the other vehicles with this thing!

the huge market for the CXT is 500 max so says International trucks.
As for tim I have no clue what you're talking about. Maybe if you commented during the five day test drives we do on autoblog we'd answer all those burning questions for you. And no we don't do all the dyno, 0-60 stuff here. There's no need for it in this forum. And no one seems to miss it here. The point being joe schmo car buyer doesn't do 0-60 very often. but he does care about the quality vs. price vs performance of new cars that a 15 minute test drive at the dealer can't really provide. that's what we try to do.

Please ignore my previous post (#10), I am genuine white trash and take lots of offense to white trash posts as it reminds me of the rampant incest in my family. Also, please take note: I enjoy farm animals that are dirty.
Thanks for your patience and understanding of my issues.

Where did anyone say that Cadillac owners are white trash? You said that. I have another comment about Cadillac owners but I'll just keep that stereotype to myself...
Although Cadillac does have one of the ugliest fleets out there.

dave, thanks! like i said, i enjoy the 5-day reviews. i wasn't clear that this was a non performance blog. i have commented on many of the 5 day reviews, and enjoy them. and, they are "lite" on the driving experience. i just thought it was ironic that walter was complaining about the Boston reviewer only using 2 paragraphs to describe the "driver", when that was an observation i have with the 5-day reviews here. why make that sound like a lesser thing?
